Regulatory update – Serbia

Serbia is taking steps to digitize public administration services and has announced the move to electronic incorporation of companies.

Amendments to the registration procedure of the Serbian Business Registers Agency were passed at the end of 2021 with an additional 18-month time frame to implement the technical requirements.

As of May 17, 2023, the following points should be noted:

➡ Paper-based or in-person applications are no longer accepted.

➡ The online application is filed by qualified electronic signature, either of a company representative or of an appointed counsel.

➡ Scanned copies of documents that were originally signed in paper form may be submitted.

The online system only applies to incorporation of companies. For now, amendments to incorporated companies such as a change of address or share capital must still be filed in paper form.
